2. Visiting the website (web hosting)
The site runs on a server of Hostinger International Ltd. (61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus), with the server located in the European Union. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Hostinger.
When the site is accessed, the server processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested file, browser identifier) in order to deliver the site. No access log is stored for morgrad.com. Only in the event of technical errors can an entry be created in the server's error log; the IP address is already shortened when it is written (IPv4 without the last block, IPv6 only the first 48 bits), and the entry is deleted after 8 days at the latest. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure and stable operation).
There are no cookies and no content from third-party servers (fonts, videos, scripts).
3. Playing in the browser
The game reads the Gothic II files only on your computer, from the folder you choose; nothing is uploaded. Your save is kept in your browser's storage (Local Storage); in Chrome and Edge, access to the chosen folder is stored as well (IndexedDB), so you don't have to choose it again every time. Your language choice for the website and the game is also stored. This storage is technically necessary (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG) and does not leave your computer. You can remove it via “Clear site data” in your browser.
4. Windows version
The Windows version stores your save and the path to Gothic II in your user folder (%APPDATA%\Morgrad Survivors). Every time it starts, it checks with morgrad.com whether there is a newer version of the game and downloads it if so. This involves the same technical data as visiting the website (section 2); no other data is transmitted.
5. Contact by email
If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The message is deleted once the matter is settled and no retention obligation applies.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure and restriction of processing (Art. 17, 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR); the authority responsible for the controller is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg). Please send requests informally to the email address given above.
